  • Early Years Wellness Team

    Every Thursday

    The Early Years Connected Care Team is a team of professionals for the Saskatchewan Health Authority. It consistent of language pathologist, occupational therapist, early childhood psychologist, social worker and a nurse. They work with children that have delay in speech, cognitive, emotional and social development needs.

  • Centre on Wheels

    Every Monday starting, June 07th, 2023 - September 27th, 2023

    Our Family Fun Bike is ready to hit the streets of Saskatoon once again! We will be meeting at a designated park every Wednesday morning.

    This program features interactive activities such as crafts, stories, games, songs and dance! We will be serving light snacks and families are encouraged to go play at the nearby playground together afterwards.

  • Mothering Circle

    Every Tuesday

    1:00-3:00 pm

    In collaboration with the The Saskatoon Mothers' Centre, the FRC is offering a group for mothers and any women who are raising children. The awesome facilitators from SMC offer breastfeeding support and open conversation about topics related to prenatal care and parenting.

    No registration is required.

Pre & Post Natal Program

Pre and Post Natal Group is a program focused on supporting new and expecting moms social and emotional wellbeing. Having a baby is an enormous life change and it can come with many big feelings and questions. In this group, there will be meaningful guided discussions on topics such as mental health and wellness, birth stories, relationship changes, being a new mom, bonding with your baby, creating support networks, and more! Participants will be provided with tools and resources to empower them on their new journey.

Neurodiverse Parenting Program

In collaboration with Navera Community Connections, we will be offering the Neurodiverse Parenting Program!

It focuses on the challenges and joys of parenting neurodivergent children/youth. Children with neurological differences may include, but is not limited to those with:

  • Learning difficulties

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • ADHD

  • ADD

  • Dyslexia

Your child does not need a formal diagnosis for you to

participate in this group. This group will provide parents with a safe place to connect with others facing similar issues. There will be guided weekly discussions on topics such as:

  • Working through managing behaviours

  • Parenting fears connecting with your child

  • Emotional regulation and co-regulation/mental health

  • Wellness and creating support networks.

Before First Steps

Kristen Quigley will be offering this new Before First Steps: Supporting Child Early Motor Development program at our centre!

“The first steps are exciting, but a lot of development happens before your baby takes those exciting first steps. Throughout the program’s 5 weeks, different topics will be covered so that you can help your infant be set up for success to take those first steps with confidence! Discussion will be around things to do when your baby is born and what to look for that would indicate the need for further support from a professional. We’ll look at milestones and movement, so you know what’s happening next in their development. Every week, we’ll progress further along their development right up until those first steps happen!”

Navigating Parenting

In collaboration with Navera Community Connections, we will be having the Navigating Parenting program!

Navigating Parenting is a program that uses art to explore parental anger, trauma, parenting strategies, self-care, attachment, positive discipline, and more. It focuses on rebuilding and strengthening relationships between parents and children. It also focuses on the importance of connection and communication. This program is for all parents, regardless of the child’s age, or whether the child is in the parent’s care.

Some of the topics covered in the Navigating Parenting program include:

• Styles of parenting

This is a baking program for caregivers and children to bond and learn about baking. We will be making a variety of sweet and savory food. Everything is peanut-free, eggless, and Halal. This program is suitable for children ages one to five years old. Parents/caregivers are expected to assist and bake with the children.

**Please be advised that because this is a baking program we will not be able to cater to individuals with gluten and dairy allergies as well as sugar restrictions. The ingredients are vegetarian.**

The Happy Plate: Nutrition

This program will be hosted by our nursing practicum students.. The focus of this program is to educate the caregivers and kids about the four major food group set out by the Canada Food Guide. The program will promote heathy nutrition resources for young children through a variety of activities, including scavenger hunts, music and crafts!

  • DiverseCITY

    This is a 5-week program focused on exploring various cultural games, songs and traditions for parents/care givers and their children 18 months-5 years old.

    DiverseCITY is a program which promotes multicultural awareness for young children together with their parents/caregivers. Weekly cultural themes will be explored through developmentally appropriate toys, books, music, and activities.

    We invite families from a variety of cultural backgrounds and traditions! Come and join us as we explore different cultures all around the globe!

  • A Little Spot Of: Emotions

    This is a 5-week program that will explore the “A Little Spot of…” book series by Diane Alber (read more here: https://www.dianealber.com/) . These books explore emotions, character traits and personal skills through fun characters and stories. The program will have various crafts and activities for parents/caregivers and children to try out together!

    It is suitable for families with children between the ages of 2.5 and 5 years of age.

Registered groups. Families need to register once and they should be able to commit to attend each program session for six weeks.

  • Busy Toddlers: Messy & Sensory Play Group

    First Block: June 6th, 2022 - July 11th, 2022

    Second Block: July 25th, 2022 - Aug 29th, 2022

    10:00 am - 11:00 am

    This is a registered group and up to 6 families can register. The program will run for 6 weeks.

    The first block will run from June 6th-July 11.

    The second bock will run from July 25-August 29.

    The sensory play group is for children aged 18 months - 5 years old. We will work on a variety of skills (hand-eye coordination, imagination, fine motor, observational and life skills) while playing with sensory and messy activities. We use a combination of sensory play like water, colored pasta, washable paint, sand, and more!

    The program will start with a circle time and then we will spend with the rest of the session exploring our senses together. The class will take place either indoors or at our outdoor space!

    We recommend families to bring extra shirt and a towel or baby wipes.

  • Everyday Science

    A science program that is designed specifically for 2 to 5 year olds.

    This is a unique opportunity for children to learn about science while spending time with their parent, grandparent or caregiver.

    We actively encourage turn taking, socializing, sharing and answering questions which will help the children prepare for school. Each session lasts 60 minutes and follows a set format so the children know what to expect next. We encourage the caregivers to join in so that they can carry on the learning experience at home with their children.
