Here are some resources that support families in Saskatoon:

Child Care

  • Choosing the Best Child Care for Your Child - this Government of Saskatchewan site provides information on how child care works in Saskatchewan, how to find the best child care for your child, and how to apply for a child care subsidy.

  • Licensed Child Care Providers – the Government of Saskatchewan provides this searchable map to help families find licensed child care/daycare centres and homes in Saskatchewan.

Preschools

  • ​Preschools are run by private individuals and organizations. Good preschool programs promote learning and development in young children. Preschools and nursery schools are listed in the yellow pages of the phone book under "Schools Nursery & Preschool."

  • A directory of preschools located within Saskatoon Public Schools can be found here.

  • There is a cost for children to attend preschool. For more information about funding support for preschools, parents can visit the Saskatoon Preschool Foundation website.

Pre-kindergarten

  • Pre-kindergarten programming is offered where children may benefit from additional supports such as speech, language and social development programming. Pre-kindergarten helps children develop language and communication skills; develop problem-solving skills; learn to co-operate with others; and make new friendships.

  • There is no cost for families for children to attend a pre-kindergarten program.

  • Saskatoon Public Schools offer pre-kindergarten programs at various schools in Saskatoon. More information on where the programs are located is available here.

  • Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools also offer pre-kindergarten programs at various schools in Saskatoon. More information on where the programs are located is available here.

  • If you would like to enroll your child in pre-kindergarten, please contact the school’s main office (see the links above for the schools that have pre-kindergarten programs on the Saskatoon Public Schools and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools websites). Admittance is based on an application and criteria set out by the Ministry of Education.

  • Play. Learn. Grow. Together! – the Government of Saskatchewan has developed resources for parents of newborn and pre-school aged children with tips and information on how to help them learn at home.
